Monday May 8th
We'll be writing our 'practice test' for the PAT Part A Writing Test this Wednesday, the 10th.
We will try to simulate the actual test situation and I will choose a narrative story picture-cue and a 'news story' cue from a previous PAT and we will try to complete both well in the time suggested (110 minutes).
We will evaluate these using the scoring rubric used by Alberta Ed.
Ask your child about it.

For Monday May 8 please have "On Your Own" page 24 done.

PAT Prep
We have been working hard to prepare well for the Provincial Achievement Test: Part A (Writing) which the Grade Six class will write on Thursday, May 18th. That's two weeks from today!
The test has two parts: a narrative writing component ( students write a story from a picture cue) and a functional writing component (students write a 'news story' from a situation presented and a list of facts), both in 90 minutes. We have been working on improving our writing and composing and editing skills, as well as on 'creating' under time pressure.
Tonight's homework is to write a eulogy for the Calgary Flames hockey team...no just kidding! Actually it is to complete a worksheet (Lesson 49 -both sides) on 'Quotation Marks', due tomorrow, Friday the 5th.
